Description

Bass beware! The Geezus Lizard has entered the pond of flies. Developed as a bass bug this fly has caught Pike, Trout, and Walleye. It rides hook up to reduce the number of hang-ups when fishing in tight spots and helps to improve your hook set. This might be one of the best all around crayfish patterns for big hungry fish.

Instructions

Prepare proper-sized chunk of tail tip material.

Create extra long dubbing loop using three wraps of 210 thread. Stack first color of tail dubbing.

Insert prepared tail tip chunk. Apply small amount of head cement onto thread over this tip piece.

Stack second tail dubbing into the loop.

Twist the dubbing loop.

Use dubbing rake to comb out loose material.

Continue to twist the dubbing loop until it will not twist any more. Fold the yellow tip piece over on its self and pull to one side. Let the entire dubbing loop furl over its self.

Cut furled tale off at the base and glue with Zap-A-Gap.

Use bodkin to straiten tip fibers and comb out kinks.

Trim to proper length.

Taper the tip.

Use dubbing rake to comb out and blend the tail dubbing.

Create thread base on hook shank (to include bend of jig hook).

Mount the eyes VERY well to insure NO movement!

Tie on tail to proper length. Trim butt section of tail.

Zap-A-Gap tie in point of eyes and let dry. This locks in the eyes.

Once the Zap-A-Gap has dried, apply Hard As Hull head cement over entire painted lead eyes. Let dry and REPEAT!

Tie in 1st set of rubber legs. Then ribbing wire. Then scud Back. Then rear zonker strip.

Wrap rear zonker strip forward. Tie off and cut leaving room for second zonker strip.

Tie in and wrap second zonker strip up to lead eyes.

Dampen zonker hair and part down the middle. Fold Scud Back over and tie it off.

Wrap ribbing wire forward. Pick the hair out from under the wire as you go.

Part the 2nd zonker hair on either side of fly. Tie in the marabou topping. Use three strait fiber tip chunks of marabou.

Tie in 2nd set of rubber legs to the rear of the lead eyes and off to the side of the fly body. Then create dubbing loop using head dubbing.

Figure 8 wrap dubbing loop around the eyes and onto the bend of the jig hook.

Tie off dubbing loop and use bodkin to pick out matted down dubbing fibers.

Rake out dubbing around head, then trim loose dubbing fibers off the back side and front ONLY!

Use TWO whip finish knots to finish. Apply Hard As Hull head cement to the knot.

Trim legs to proper length.
