Take your average humpy and enlarge it about 10 times and what do you have? - The Steelhead Humpy. This is a great dual purpose fly. Use it as a skater or waking fly for steelhead or use it as an October Caddis imitation for large trout. It's basically the same tying technique used for the smaller cousin, only with this pattern you use all of your hair ends to create the hump, not just the tail stubs or wing stubs. My apologies for the image quality on some of these. ALSO - If you tie your own, make the wings a little longer, expecially if you plan to use this fly as a skater or waking fly.
