Re: Ray Bergman "Trout" swap

Postby Aaron » Mon Oct 12, 2009 12:23 pm

I went back and read some of the past forum posts and noticed that abelreel had the idea for this swap back in April. The idea for this one is totally abelreels and I am sorry if stepped on any toes.

The abelreel post was why I ordered the book Trout ! I also bought several other standards I had failed to read. This is why this is a good site. I always need a push......

Howdy,

Sorry to be such a pain, but I'm going to have to change patterns. I don't have any orange goose....

Please change my pattern to a Tomah Joe. I do have a good supply of Barred Woodduck.

Charflyfish and Dcarp,
Would you guys like to tie six of your selected pattern since its just the three of us or would you rather cancel this swap?

Either one, I have a stubborn resistance to "quitting". I will leave it up to you guys. I am , however, disappointed about the lack of participation. These flies are fundamental and there is a connectivity with the history.

O.K. Its on! Lets get to tying. I will pm the address (I can never remeber how to spell that word and my dictionary is way over there)... hold on a sec.....ok address...I will pm my address.
You are right about the history. I find it amazing how well some of these flies work and how basic they are.
As far as the lack of participation, I think some are fishing, some are busy with end of summer stuff and some just have other stuff to do. Maybe I should have waited another month...?

Great. I love to tie and don't need much coaxing ! I agree that folks are busy in the stream (as they should be). Weather here (NC) is so mild, we don't have to brace for those tough winters inside. Perhaps later in the year another Bergman could take place. Thanks, Tom
